Updike Hailey made a military career out of disarming and creating weaponry from Frankensteined bits. On the battlefield it saved countless more lives than it destroyed—that of Kaspar Snell for one.

Back home, it helped him to arm, and save the lives of The Generation. There is nothing that  Updike—or Steeplejack—can’t “jerry-rig” into some sort of working order. He along with The Remedy built his friend (Snell) back from the brink as a human/mechanical hybrid. He has made vast retrofits to improve the S.S. Tizona in every way. He has even helped almost every member of the team improved gear that will help maximise their effectiveness and minimise the risk.

A liability in conflict situations, Steeplejack is mostly found in his workshops, either on the Tizona or in Denver.
